Update Log - Getting Started
I have started several games in the past, but I've never gotten much past having a playable character in an empty sandbox level. It always seems like the first version of the game that's actually fun to play is so far off, it's hard not to get discouraged. So this time, I put a lot of thought into what kind of game I could quickly make into a playable minigame, with lots of room to build in new mechanics and content from there--and so Twinstick Prototype was born (don't worry, that's just a placeholder title)! After about a week of pretty intense work, I've been surprised at how much fun I've already been able to have with the game, playing with the various mechanics as I implement them. In the long run, my plan is to turn this into a sort of twin-stick looter shooter: loot and progression in the vein of games like Diablo and Path of Exile, but with more engaging moment-to-monent action (I've always found the combat in those games a bit dull).
It is still plenty early, though, so the plans aren't fully fleshed out, and there is plenty of room for the direction to change completely if a better idea comes along. And that's where you come in! If you've played my game, I would love to hear your thoughts--good, bad, or ugly! Any feedback you have can only make the game better.
